We are looking for a reliable and hardworking cleaner to join our school team and help us maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our pupils and staff.

We currently have approximately 20 hours of cleaning available each week, made up of:

  • approximately 15 hours per week at our Openshaw site

We are happy to consider applications from someone wishing to work the full approximately 25 hours, or from applicants looking for around 10/15 hours per week at one location.

Working hours

The role is primarily term-time, with additional agreed hours during school holidays for deep cleaning and preparation of the school sites.

There is some flexibility around working times, but cleaning will normally take place once pupils have finished for the day.

Typical working times will be:

Monday to Thursday: after 2:30pm
Friday: after 12:30pm

The exact working pattern can be agreed with the successful applicant(s).

Additional deep-cleaning hours during school holidays will be arranged in advance.

Typical duties will include:

  • cleaning classrooms and teaching areas

  • vacuuming, sweeping and mopping floors

  • cleaning toilets and washroom facilities

  • cleaning communal areas, offices and staff areas

  • wiping and sanitising surfaces

  • emptying bins and disposing of waste appropriately

  • replenishing cleaning and hygiene supplies where required

  • undertaking periodic deeper cleaning tasks

  • reporting any maintenance, damage or health and safety concerns

  • carrying out other reasonable cleaning duties as required

Cleaning equipment and products will be provided.

About you

We are looking for someone who is reliable, trustworthy and takes pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.

You should be able to work independently, manage your time effectively and follow appropriate health and safety procedures.

Previous cleaning experience would be helpful but is not essential. We are particularly interested in applicants who have high standards, are dependable and understand the importance of maintaining a safe environment for children and young people.

Safeguarding

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.

The successful applicant will be subject to appropriate safer recruitment checks, including satisfactory references, proof of right to work in the UK and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
