E-Safety
Online safety is an important part of modern life for children and young people. Whether using phones, gaming consoles, social media, messaging apps or the internet for learning, technology can bring many positive opportunities, but it is also important that young people understand how to stay safe online.
At school, we regularly discuss e-safety with pupils through our curriculum and pastoral support. We encourage pupils to think about how to keep personal information private, communicate respectfully online, recognise unsafe situations and know where to go for help if something worries them.
As parents and carers, it can sometimes feel difficult to keep up with the fast-changing online world. Open conversations at home about apps, games, social media and online behaviour can make a huge difference in helping children stay safe and feel supported.
There are some excellent resources available for families:
The UK Safer Internet Centre – Online Safety Campaign provides helpful guidance for parents and carers on topics such as screen time, gaming, social media, parental controls and online risks. The information is easy to understand and includes practical advice for supporting children of different ages.
National Online Safety also offers a wide range of guides, videos and resources for parents, carers and schools. Their platform includes advice on popular apps, online trends, privacy settings and ways to support young people to use technology safely and positively. A selection of National Online Safety posters and parent guides can also be found attached below for additional support and information.
If you ever have concerns about your child’s online safety or would like further support, please do not hesitate to contact school. Working together helps us to support children in developing safe, responsible and positive online habits.
