Science

We believe Science has something to offer every student, where pupils explore the foundation for understanding the material world. Scientific understanding is changing our lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity. Students will learn essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science. They will gain appreciation of how the complex and diverse phenomena of the natural world can be described interms of a small number of key ideas that relate to the sciences and that are both inter-linked and are of universal application.

The Science curriculum is designed to instil pupils with a genuine sense of excitement and curiosity. It is both relevant and engaging, allowing pupils to develop their own ideas and ways of working, through highly memorable learning experiences. To this end, we ensure that pupils develop a practical approach to science, by routinely planning and carrying out laboratory investigations. This approach is supported by wider educational opportunities provided in and out of lessons that embrace local, national and global developments or issues.
